The course aim is to develop skills and capabilities of learners to enable them to confidently carry out the role of incident commander operating at a multi-agency gold level at a remote location and commanding the largest and most serious incidents on scene.
The course will satisfy the requirements of Skills For Justice Award Level 4 in Strategic Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services(QCF Level 7).
Area Managers in role or in development and Group Managers identified with suitable potential for progression.
This course will prepare the learner for the most challenging incidents requiring a high level of strategic and tactical coordination and understanding of incident support structures. The course is aligned to Skills for Justice award programme, “Strategic Incident Command in the Fire and Rescue Service” National Occupation Standard NOS EFSM1.
The course will comprise 7 hours of pre-module study followed by a 5-day taught module comprising 36 hours of lectures, seminars, case studies and simulations. A post-module assignment will be expected to require a further 7 hours of study.
