Course aims

The objective of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to facilitate the operation of the Command Support function in the role of Command Support Officer. The qualification complements the Incident Command suite.

Competent Level 1 Incident Commanders

Learning outcomes

– Understand the role of Command Support in Fire and Rescue Services
– Be able to facilitate the operation of the Command Support function

Length of course

The course will comprise 10 hours of directed pre-module study followed by a 2-day taught module comprising 8 hours of lectures, seminars, and case studies followed by an assessed exercise simulations. A post-module assignment will be expected to require a further 15 hours of study including an assessed portfolio of evidence.

Accreditation

Students successfully completing the course will receive a report detailing the delegate’s performance on the simulated incident against the criteria for Skills for Justice Awards in Command Support in Fire and Rescue Services and Certificate.
