Course aims

This course is designed to provide learners with a reassessment of the skills required to take command at a fire and rescue incident at intermediate level.

This qualification aligns with the NFCC Incident Command National Operational Guidance (NOG).

Who should attend?

Competent Station Managers or those in development

Learning outcomes

– Understand the key roles within the incident command structure, and the principles of operational risk management and decision-making
– Understand communication systems available both at incidents and remotely
– Develop acute awareness of the benefits of interoperability with other agencies
– Be able to review and determine the status of operational incidents, implement action to support those on the ground, and conduct a debrief

Length of course

The two day course will comprise 8 hours taught element including lectures, seminars and case studies. On the second day, each learner will undertake a practical simulated exercise.
