Course aims

This course is designed to provide learners with a reassessment of the skills required to take command at a fire and rescue incident at advanced level.

This qualifications align with the NFCC Incident Command National Operational Guidance (NOG).

Who should attend?

Competent Group and Area Managers in role or those in development.

Learning outcomes

– Understand the principles of tactical decision-making and risk management when leading, monitoring and supporting people at operational incidents
– Be able to evaluate the status of an incident
– Be able to close down the operational phase in an incident and conduct a debrief

Length of course

The two day course will comprise 8 hours taught element including lectures, seminars and case studies. On the second day, each learner will undertake a practical simulated exercise.

Number of attendees: Minimum 4 – Maximum 6
